Planning for the Future!

So we have 11 acres which we have gradually been trying to turn into something more. I currently have chickens and ducks and one pair of geese. We also have been working on an orchard so yesterday we planted some apricots, cherries, and some other delicious fruit. For us this is the future we both want to be as self sufficient as possible. I know some people instantly think the "crazy" people planning for the worlds end but for me it is just cutting down on food cost. So do any of you garden? Have an awesome orchard?

A Typical Day

A typical day in my life involves getting up feeding all the animals chickens, ducks, geese, dogs, cats, and Nick. I live on a very small acreage. Then heading to work. I work at a newspaper where randomly I get tied to the chair with packing paper, or someone
springs out and yells boo! Yea the ladies I work with both have great sense of humors...sadly since I jump the worst I am usually the one who gets scared! So what do you do? Any animals or kids? I someday hope to have kids but with PCOS it just hasn't happened yet.

What Do You Fix On A Hot Night For Dinner!

Ugh I am attempting to plan something that isn't hot for dinner...A green salad and perhaps some sandwiches unless someone has a better idea? I am always looking for something that is tasty, thrifty, and doesn't require heating the house up anymore. I usually do a box of macaroni (or some sort of pasta) with some Italian dressing or seasonings and then a can of diced tomatoes...total is about three bucks and it is a simple tasty treat...which I can send left overs for the hubby's lunch the next day! So ladies give me your beat the heat dinner ideas!

Making Chocolate Treats!

Today I made a recipe I found on another page http://centslessdeals.com/2013/07/nutella-cheesecake-lasagna-recipe.html/ To tell you where I got it...it does taste awesome but I think it needs some editing...The crust was super thick and I think I should have used a lot less off the chocolate graham crackers since I needed to add more butter to make it pack down in the pan! Tell me ladies what is your favorite sweet treat recipe?

What is for dinner?

Well I went grocery shopping and sixty dollars later I came out with a ham and lots of other items. I really love coupons! Well the hubby apparently felt like pizza since he went and picked us up pizza. So it was nice after work to not have to cook and heat up the house. So what do you guys like to do for an easy dinner?

What are you doing to pamper yourself?

Today I am headed out to the garden to pull weeds and pick some fresh spinach and lettuce. Then the big debate what to make the husband after he works a long hard day? Suggestions are always welcome. I am thinking I will make Shepard's Pie with the left over mashed potatoes from last night. It is amazingly good.

Take 1 lb of hamburger, I brown mine up with an onion and some Lawry's garlic salt (we are addicted to that in my house).
I then add some water and some diced up carrots...my hubby doesn't like many but I like a lot so that is up to you....you can add a can of peas if you want but I do not like cooked peas. I then add some flour  with Worcestershire sauce after the carrots are pretty well cooked this thickens it. Dump the hamburger into a pan I usually use a glass casserole pan, top that with the mashed potatoes. Bake it for at least a half hour you want to make sure you don't get crunchy carrots. Sometimes we top it with cheese. Just to add a few more calories. A meal all in one dish!

So I am 29 years old, married, and working a part time job. I attempt to live my life frugally while enjoying it as much as possible. For me pampering myself usually involves food. Which is why my waist line has expanded so much. So yesterday instead of making something horribly delicious I used my foot bath to soak my feet and then give myself a manicure. The foot bath is awesome and has a spinning pumice stone. So my lovely garden beat feet are now much prettier. What do you do to pamper yourself?
